My retained solicitor told me not to agree to market the house until a financial arrangement was in place. I get that. But then I wondered if the solicitor was getting me to play hard ball in the hope that mediation would break down and we'd end up going to court and she could ultimately make way more money from the situation than it at first seemed? Would a family law solicitor do that?

What are the implications/risks of marketing the house without a financial arrangement in place?

You’re paying an expert who knows the local area and has all your financial details for their professional opinion. Why do you feel they would misinform you?

Remember though they advise and you instruct so the decision is yours.

If you do sell what are the plans for the proceeds and where will you both live? Does your STBX want to sell now?

What you do want to avoid is a situation where you have sold but the proceeds are sat in a solicitors account for an extended period, of no use to either of you, awaiting ann agreement on how they are to be distributed.

To make money. Mediation seems to be working and she isn't involved (apart from advising me) and it could be in her interest for mediation to fail. That's my question really.

Remember though they advise and you instruct so the decision is yours.

Agreed but I want an objective decision for me. Not what's in her best interest.
