Dear [name of headteacher]

I request that you please inform me of the following:

  • All parents' evenings and all other events that parents are invited to, such as plays, end-of-year awards and sports days

  • All meetings involving [child’s name]

(Some schools have online portals which allow you to view newsletters, news bulletins, attendance records, school events diary, etc – if you child’s school has such a portal, request a log-in access to it)

Everyone who is a parent, as recognised under education law, can participate in their child’s education. All parents can also receive information about the child, such as pupil reports, participate in statutory activities, be asked to give consent - such as to the child taking part in school trip, be informed about meetings involving the child - such as a governors’ meeting on the child’s exclusion.

I can confirm there are no court orders in place which restrict my parental responsibility, and that I have full parental responsibility as I am named on [child’s name] birth certificate/have a Parental Responsibility Order from the Family Court. *

*Delete as appropriate

I am keen to support [child’s name] in his/her education.
