Is there such a thing as counselling for children whose parents are going through a divorce and if there is how do I find out where?
Any help would be welcome
Thanks

Hi There - yes there is - it is really helping my kids a lot.
A local mediation service offered free services for kids - see www.nfm.org.uk/index.php?page=Home for your nearest and ask if they offer this service. Your GP can help as well.

Best of luck.

Hi Phoenix,

Good luck...I hope things have moved on since my request for help from family mediation....I was refused family mediation because I would not put our kids through a legal battle for residency.....they were at an age to be dragged through all sorts.....my view is that our kids are little humans that need protection and guidance......they are not possessions or instruments to be used to fulfil anothers wishes....have i failed them ...I dont know...would I drag them thru court if i had a second chance ...no...do i shoulder responsibility for the parent that dis...no....but I do bear the brunt and find that hard to cope with.

I can't understand that Elle. In our case we didn't go anywhere near a court and I just phoned up Family Mediation Scotland and got an appointment. We separated almost 10 years ago.

Another good source of support can be family therapy;

Exactly Fiona, why was a woman, housed in the mens section of a homeless shelter refused help to maintain a relationship with her children...in Novemberr 2000, 9 years ago?

I know you cannot answer and I respect it is hard for people to believe...thats what makes the pain more intolerable.
