What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Thank you for all your advice.
He has no private pension.
Obviously she will need a job but being out of work with children for a long time won’t be the easiest to find. Would it be advisable to try and find a job soon after filing for divorce or will it go against her that she has more income than him?
Thank you again for your help

Both parties should be maximising their incomes. If she can work, the court would expect her to do so plus claim all benefits she can. If she was able to obtain a modest mortgage that would really help her housing situation.
