What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I haven't been on this site for a while a result of a complete change in my life.

Interesting to re-read these posts. With the benefit of perspective I have to say that these sites and the subsequent use of instant messaging are fatal to marriages. Fatal to relationships.

Tylerkyla, your post is the sort of thing I might have said as recently as two years ago.

The truth is more difficult. Relationships are difficult but all the more so when one of the parties goes online to find someone else at the first sign of trouble.
My now ex-wife is so hooked on finding partners online she has given up custody to me without a fight.

Don't underestimate the power of the excitement of going online to find someone new.

It seems to me like unreasonable behaviour. My husband was using porn sites and swingers sites to engage in sex with people. I had guessed this was happening and since then have found out that the reality of what he was doing was far worse. I obviously have no proof apart from what people have told me and a few bank transactions to massage parlours. :(.

Funny thing is he was obsessed with keeping an eye on what I was doing to the point of harassment.

OP I wish you the best of luck, no-one should be treated like that.
