I am the respondent in a divorce, my husband filed, grounds were farcical but I''ve agreed to divorce. We do not have children together, I have children from a previous marriage who lived with us.

Duration of marriage was 2 years.

He is claiming they are not children of the family? I am sayin they are as they lived with us for the whole of the marriage..

The judge has now called a 15 minute hearing for directions??

What should I expect.

I am self representing, should I get a solicitor?
Will it go in my husbands favour if he does have a solicitor?
Should I be informed if my husband intends to have representation?

How old are the children? If they are under 16 and yours then they are classed as children of the marriage

When he filed for divorce they were 15 and 17.

They are mine from a previous marriage.

They are still children of the marriage but he is probably thinking because they are teenagers they don''t count

Look don''t worry about it just go with your facts such as schooling details if they are going to university etc and maintenance if any from their father it''s not as if you suddenly pulled them out of a bag and he didn''t know about them

My stbx claimed he never knew he was my daughters stepfather he asked when this happened??? Errr on the day we got married and you did the big speech about being so proud of being her step dad!!!

Don''t let it worry you

Also if you have any evidence eg speech wedding stuff ANYTHING file it and then let him lie to the judge and then BOOM you produce your evidence to prove he is lying , from here on in he will be seen in a bad light by the judge

Myself and ex had to have a 15 minute hearing before our Nisi was given. I''m our case it was more to do with the fact we were still both living in the marital home. Some courts like to just clarify what the arrangements regarding the children will be. I self repped also and from my experience in didn''t need a solicitor as I was and am the main carer and my ex wasn''t disputing this either

Hope that helps
