What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi RubyTuesday
I've just phoned the BSE helpline and they indicate that Decree Nisi takes 16 weeks from the time the legal team gets it.

1. That would make it it 80 working days rather than 45. This seems right since mine was received by them on 3rd December, and I still haven't heard back.

2. Also, could you possibly help explain if there is a time lag between the submission of the application to the time it gets assigned to the legal team?

thanks very much

Hi,

I submitted my Deemed Service and Decree Nisi through my solicitor on 28/09/2021. These application was transferred to Bury St Edmunds and they acknowledge the receipt on 20 Oct 2021. I Called the court today, they said the document has been transferred to legal team on 19/02/2022 will take further 16 weeks to get the outcomes.

So, i dont understand why there is time lag of 4 months between 20/10/2021 and 19/02/2022 ? Do 16 weeks timescale for deemed service to be granted ? and another 16 weeks for decree nisi to be considered ?

Thanks

Same. Submitted 06.07.2021. Transferred to legal team 5 months later on 03.12.2021, and then a 16 week timeline to get it processed, so expected 25.03.2022. That would make it almost 9 months from submission to nisi. Then the 'cooling off' period. Yeah. No idea.
