What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Thanks - I didn't say that Spouse 2 had an offer of a 30 hour job so not sure where that came from.

Thanks for the notes on shared ownership - but note Spouse 2 is happy with this option.

The children are keen for the marital home to be kept, so giving up all the equity is not an option Spouse 1 would consider at this stage.

Surely with SM there is no benefit to Spouse 2 and every £ of SM reduces their UC by the same amount.

From other forums, it sounds like judges don't like SM or the combined GM either.
