It's really a minor issue that could easily be resolved by your x allowing the 3 calls, but probably best to give in on this one, shows you are willing to bend a little.

Watch out if other demands start as it could lead to seeing/speaking to kids for lesser and lesser amounts of time.

In the long run if you keep in contact the kids will always want to stay in touch and they will eventually make up their own minds about it.
