Hi AM,

In my opinion the money is for overall upkeep and 'looking after' expenses for a child, so the food and utilities is part of this.

I think your proposals to spend some on her new outfits and food and gas and electric are spot on!

If you were planning on spending the money on your own boozy night out - then I would take a different opinion ;)

Don't feel guilty for what you intend to do, I think its the right thing!

WhiteRose is right. child maintenance is for all the child's needs, including keeping a roof over her head, warmth, etc. So you can use it to pay the rent if you need to - though a new winter coat also sounds like a very good idea.

Best wishes,
Sadie
