Decent fathers will always support their children, but some aspects of the CSA are totally unfair. I am puzzled as to why the incomes of both parents are not taken into account.

The CSA merely move money from one parent to the other on the grounds that children should not be impoverished. That the children could be impoverished when they are residing with their father is of no concern to the CSA.

They are there to do a job and the consequences of their actions are irrelevant to them.

Wanted to add decent dads will want to as well. I wish I could contribute to my children but for my ex wife that would mean I won.

Most women know that once you''ve planted the seed they literally have you by the nuts, and can flog you for the next 18 years. ALl the man has to do is grow a base and buttons, and the human cashpoint process begins.

She would have got that in tax credits anyway!

My partner just left me as she couldn''t get pregnant in 6 months, turns out I was one of a long line she''s tried (and she''s now on the next one) just so she can stay on the dole and not be forced into work.

Tried to tell her that she''s faulty not the line of men!

I am glad I dodged that bullet!

Please also look at it from (some) womens point of view.

2 yrs ago my stbxh and I sold the martital home and each bought houses. Our child lives with me. I have always supported the household as I earned more than him and therefore he wasn''t going to give me anything, apart from half the child care costs. I am now working full time again to afford a house and to support our daughter. 6 months later he then takes a salary drop of 12k a year for an easier life.

So roll on to divorce and I want to sort out child maintenance as well as the rest of the financials. He wants me to go to the CSA as he knows that his whole salary won''t be taken in account (he is a retained fire fighter and that money is excluded from child maintenance) and therefore all I am going to get is £150pcm.

Now, I know you are going to say "£150, that''s a lot" but please bear in mind that child care costs for after school club works out at £1500 pa - just £300 less that I will be getting. So £300 PER YEAR to clothe and feed her. OK, I can manage the rest as I have been doing that for the last 2 years EXCEPT for child care in the holiday as he would say this is included. Child care is £33 per day and there are potentially 27 holiday days to pay (exc Xmas) for if you take off my 25 days a year annual leave.

So could someone please tell me how they come to this figure - surely this is all biased towards stay at home Mum''s that don''t pay child care? At this rate it won''t be worth me working - should I just turn into one of those women you are all talking about and sponge off of him or should I just expect him to pay what is fair and right and stop him sponging off of me?
