Which makes you wonder why my ex is even attempting to go for it. I suppose her solicitor is used to dealing with people who just roll over and accept things.

Very simply, her solicitor is getting another billable letter for every issue he can raise - kerching! - common sense and reason simply do not come into it. He is purely thinking about his fourth overseas holiday this year. He doesn't give a monkey's if she wins or not. He gets paid regardless. If more people saw through that, divorce would be a lot less confrontational and solicitors wouldn't be quite so affluent. Hey ho - welcome to reality.
