Hi All,

The Govt wants us to give up Smoking and there are free ''kits'' apparently available, see:

smokefree.nhs.uk/?&gclid=CPahi5Kmoq4CFSgntAod9m4oSA

Please note that this is all geared up for giving up Smoking, not at all meant to help you give up Nicotine.

I think Nicotine is a brilliant substance:

It removes cravings to smoke
It calms the nerves
It helps you sleep
It peps you up
It helps you concentrate
It gets rid of headaches
It doesn''t make you cough or give you a sore throat
It regulates the bowels and prevents constipation, bowel pain and gas
It doesn''t make your gums bleed
It doesn''t give you a tightness in the chest.

Now unfortunately I have decided to be super-healthy and have given up both smoking and nicotine. This is how I know just how wonderful and useful nicotine is.

After 4 weeks cold turkey I am still not feeling as good as I did when I was smoking.

I shall give it some more time before I decide just how much of this healthy living I can stand.

Had to reply when I read you post as it made me chuckle!!

I gave up smoking on 1st January & also started an exercise regime to help stop me piling on the weight - since fags were relpaced with sweets & wine! Still off the fags but don''t feel that "healthy" yet - started getting spots (at 45, I ask you!) & was told this was the toxins removing themselves - my skin was fab when I smoked.

Anyway, just giving a bit of moral support cos I know it''s hard to stop the fags - but keep with it.;)

Healthy living? My nemesis is food. Having spent years of avoiding dinner dates, alcohol etc to half my weight and keep it that way I threw all caution to the wind over Christmas and made up for the deprivation of Christmas fare in previous years.

Last week I survived on around 1000 calories a day, went to the gym and swimming three times, danced, walked and cycled so I lost 1lb and I''m completely kn*ckered.

You survived a week on fresh air and exercise, lived of carrot sticks, and lost 1lb.

Have a cake luv its not worth it, and a nice pie for your tea :)

Hi Dazed and Fiona!

I think we''re being conned here.

Dazed is regressing, acne this month and it''ll be chickenpox next! Fiona lost 1lb after all that work?

I think we''ll all be better off with one large glass of wine and 4 fags a day. Just enough to make a positive contribution but not too much to let us get used to the pleasant effects these goodies bring.

And as for exercise, gym and swimming? They''re false. I think good old organic, wholesome and natural rumpy-pumpy uses more muscles than any so-called fitness regime and results in weight loss, increased skin firmness and muscle tone.

What have I forgotten, oh yeah - rock & roll is good too :)

You lucky chap Eyes!

I am in some difficulty with this giving up lark. Hopefully it is just temporary, but it is rather unpleasant. It''s 4 weeks and 2 full days for me - perhaps we should start blogs and see whether there are any similarities?

At the moment I am still firmly of the opinion that nicotine is good for you - all sponsorship money gratefully received, ty
