Good morning, my partner is currently going through a divorce and his ex is asking for half of his pension. Would they be entitled to it even though he froze the pension before they had even met? Thanking you in advance

Do you mean he stopped making contributions to his pension or is it a NEST pension?

I have been working for 27 years and when I changed jobs I left my pensions with the previous employers in their pension schemes. I have 5 different pension schemes that have been disclosed in my form E. Other than the one that is with my current employer, no other pension scheme is getting any contribution.

Mine are all money purchase schemes and I have always worked for private companies. I understand there are special arrangements for people working in public sector.

thank you for coming back to me. This is a private pension that hasn't had any contributions during the marriage. The ex seems to think they are entitled to half, but we are under the impression that because there hasn't been any contributions during their marriage, that they will not be taken into consideration. What are you thoughts?
