Within the first 12 months you can amend the forenames only and get a new birth cert. you can''t for changing the surname as it''s a historical event, which I understand.

I know in today''s world it is common for mother and children to have different surnames but he calls himself by my last name, and thinks he is as my parents are and family also have the same last name as me. Also To carry in a family link that have disowned him and threatened to harm him I would think it''s in his best interests. If the circumstances were different of course I wouldn''t mind it being different.

He''s only just turned 3 the weekend before so cannot write yet. He''s a typical boy so doesn''t sit still for long. He does say daddy but doesn''t understand what it is. I do explain that some children have just daddy''s, or just mummy''s or both. He then tells me I''m mummy and daddy haha!

Yes it will be tricky then but he sees my dad everyday and my partner also so he does get the boys only time. I hope he can deal with it and sure he''d be able to, just take it at his pace.
