Hi,

I''ve read that in mediation the norm is not to introduce a child to a new partner until the relationship is 6 months old.

Is this true ?

And if so could this be put into a child arrangement or prohibited steps order ?

Thanks

The ususal advice is to wait until the child/children have adjusted to their new situation before bringing in any new partners. There is no defined time frame, or any legal timeframe as to when that would be appropriate - it is really a matter of judgement for the parent who has a new partner when to introduce him or her to the children.

Seeking such a clause in a CAO or specifically in a PSO is effectively limiting the other parent''s Parental Responsibility and parenting.

What if that parter has a history of introducing multiple partners over short periods of time ?

And these are definitely partners, rather than just male friends?

The main focus has to be on how/if your son was affected by these introductions - if he has reacted negatively to them, then a sensitive discussion about the situation would be preferable to seeking a court order - which is a fairly aggressive approach and could be viewed as you trying to control your wife''s lifestyle and parenting.
