What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi,

Could anyone advise.

I initiated divorce against my ex as she had left me and didn’t want to reconcile (post April 22).

My Conditional order said I could apply for the final order in July 23, we had reached a verbal agreement on finances, then she started ignoring my comms and blocked me on all ways of contacting her.

Now it’s Oct 23 and she has applied AS THE RESPONDENT for the final order as she is entitled to, however no Consent Order has been reached around finances due to her agreeing we would draft one but then blocking me.

my understanding is that it complicates settling finances in the future massively if they have not been settled before the final order.

She has only just applied online for the final order, is there a way I can pause these proceedings further to get our finances sorted?

Would I be correct in looking into sending a D11 form to have her application paused.

This has caused a lot of stress and I feel so betrayed that my good nature has been played :(

Thanks

Post this year for anyone else in the future:

I rang the divorce courts service and I have submitted a D11 via email, they asked me to follow it with a call due to its priority nature.

My status online has reverted back to how it was before she filed for the final order and of course it will now go before a judge
