What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hello,
I need some advice please. Thank you.
We have exchanged form E last month based on my old job/income, through the court order which was first hearing. I changed Job after the exchange of Form E. The salary has increased in new employment, my expenditure has also increased , as the new employment is abroad and I need to keep my current place - renting in the UK so I keep coming back on holidays and whenever possible to see the children (2 boys and 1 girl, although she is not allowing me to see them now - I will apply for children contact to the court once time allows and I can afford), and also be able to pay for my expenses abroad. In real terms - my income has not changed significantly. Do I need to inform the court or her solicitor about the new employment and income and expenses? I don't have a solicitor as I can't afford. I am not sure about the stability of the new employment also, as I am still in probation and don't know what the future holds.
Please advise on Form E and also how I can see my children. Thank you, Thank you.

You have a duty to provide continued financial disclosure so should notify the other side of changes. You may need to update your income needs schedule as well as providing information about your new salary.
Ahead of FDR there are various updating documents that need to be provided. Your order from FDA should set out what's needed.
How old are the children?
If you are having problems with contact, mediation should be tried. If that's not successful an application to court may be needed.
There's a comprehensive guide to child matters in our guides section that you may find helpful. You can also have a 20 minute free call with one of our consultants to discuss this specific issue.
