What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I have recently begun mediation and I have been asked to provide bank statements for the past 12 months. Although I'm generally fine with this, there are a small number of transactions on there that I would prefer my STBX not to see. For context, we separated over a year ago now but agreed to postpone divorce to a date that was convenient for both of us and the children and continued living under the same roof. I had a brief relationship at the beginning of the year and there are some hotel transactions on the statements. We're not talking about huge amounts of money but I would prefer to keep my love life private from my ex.

If I were to reduce the opening balance of the account and delete these entries, or overwrite the entries to suggest that they were purchases of clothes rather than hotels for example (so essentially still saying the same story about how much income I get, how much discretionary spending I made etc) so that the amendments make no material difference to the outcome, would this be acceptable for my privacy?
