What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi,
I've been separated from ex wife for over 6 years & divorced 1year. Just sorting financials out now & her solicitor has asked how many holidays I've been on in the last year & how I have financed them.
Do I need to disclose this information?
I can't afford a solicitor to represent me unfortunately.
thanks

Are you in the court process? If you are the judge at FDA will decide whether to strike out questions that aren't appropriate.
If this is voluntary disclosure I guess a lot depends on what your answer would be. As far as possible it is best to be transparent and answer if you can. Having said you need to gauge whether this is just a fishing exercise. If the answers would make no material difference to any financial settlement, this question could be a 'just exception' ie it is reasonable not to answer - or answer in a neutral way that gives nothing away.e.g. I have been fortunate to be taken on holiday twice in the past 12 months.
Or: I fail to see how my holiday arrangements are relevant to financial settlement.
It may be worth looking at the services we offer to support LIPs, including fixed price legal advice.
