What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I need to complete section 3.3 on the new form FM5.
It states not to include confidential discussion in mediation however my solicitor has mentioned problems with share values.
My mediator says you mustn't include any information from mediation. So confused!!! Please help!

If you have exchanged form E disclosure and raised questions about the share values, the court will be well aware that this is an issue.
I think the confidential discussions point relates to any discussion about potential settlement. If your solicitor has included the point about the shares it may be just to explain why mediation wasn't successful. It is to be hoped they are across what should, and should not, be included.
