What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I obtained a non-mol order against my stbx following DV. He is also still on bail conditions which prohibit direct or indirect contact until case is heard (not for another 6 weeks). Won't go into detail but although he was awful to me I do beleive he loves his kids and wouldn't physically harm them, although he doesn't acknowledge the emotional damage) The problem is that our three kids would like to see their dad and I would like to support this. They have only seen him once in the last 6 weeks - he didn't accept my offer for last Sat. Don't really know why. Lawyers are being painfully slow in letters to and fro.

I have heard that he has been saying that even though he can't contact me, I am free to contact him then he wouldn't be in breach of his bail if I was the one that initiated the contact.

Is this true? (not sure if want to speak yet but would be happy to send a text/letter then wait for him to send message back via sols - this would at least save a few wasted days and pennies).

If anyone can give me any advice I would be grateful - another weekend is about to slip by without progress and my sol is in court rest of the week.
