:woohoo: Hi, I hope someone can cast some light on my situation. I am currently in a relationship where my partner is paying £600 a month alimony. We both work full time, my partners stbx is currently claiming that she only works 7 hrs although we have recently found out that she claims that she has another job, although both her sons have stated that she is not working there. I feel that there is some sort of scam going on and she may also be claiming WTC fraudently. My partner has absolutley no problem with dividing the assets 50/50 although his stbx has stated that she wants to see him in the gutter and we have it on record that she is quite happy to sit back and reap in the money, so far she has refused to send in any relevant vouching and has gotten away with this. I know from a legal point of view he is entitled to a divorce without consent in March this year but the divisions of assets will hold this back. Stbx is able to go on 2 holidays a year whilst claiming poverty, Help!!

Technically aliment is only payable from one spouse to another (or parents to children) so when the divorce is granted and the couple are no longer married aliment ends. Aliment can be replaced by periodic payments order for a maximum of up to three years.

Your partner needs to do cost analysis because wasting time trying to prove his wife is working more hours and trying to negotiate a reduction or termination to aliment could just prolong the time it has to be paid and run up legal fees costing more in the long run. Financial settlements are often just a case of minimising losses.
