Spousal maintenance for carer?

Hi, please could someone advise me if I would be entitled to spousal maintenance. I have cared for my husband for many years and put my own career to one side in order to do so, because of his higher level disability. For reasons other than his disability, I have asked for a divorce and left marital home with no way of getting my own mortgage. Miraculously, he now seems capable of looking after himself pretty well and may even manage to secure himself a job (now I have left!).
As a consequence would I have a case for some support as I have only been able to work very part-time for the last ten years and have no useful accounts to present to a bank. Thanks

Spousal maintenance depends on

1 the needs of the recipient ; and
2. The ability of the payer to meet or contribute to those needs.

For obvious reasons, people who are in need of care don''t pay SM because their incomes are too low.

But in theory there is no reason why they couldn''t ; but everything would depend of the parties'' means.
