My ex wife left me for another man over 18 years ago and took my daughter with her. There was no violence or drugs, drink involved with the split, just me working hard long hours and a lonely selfish wife. They moved away and I did not see her much at all, and there was no bond between us. I did pay maintenance for her up to her 16 birthday. I have just found out that she is not mime for sure by a DNA test, does my ex has to pay back all the maintenance which totals to some 76000 pounds.

Not sure of the answer to this but this may be relevant

Although in your case as there was a separation so long ago ... and there was maintenance involved it could well be different. I think you need some legal advice asap.

I am assuming that the maintenance was paid under a court order/Separation Agreement and Scottish law says there is an obligation to pay 'aliment' for a child who has been accepted as a child of the family. I don't think it stipulates that you must know the child isn't yours but I'll need to check that one out.
