I wrote to the CSA to get maintenance from my ex, and they have agreed that he should pay me £5 a week. It said that he needed to pay me from the 17/08/09 and that the first payment would go through on the 04/04/09.
I checked my bank yesterday however, and the money isn't in there. Could this be due to it falling on a friday? Or could it be due to the fect my ex hasn't given the CSA the money?
If it still isn't in my bank by monday, I was thinking of calling the CSA, but would they know why it wasn't in there?

Hello Annoyed Mummy.

Presume you mean 04/09/09. If they were collecting this for you this may be the day they receive it and then they forward it on to your account. With the Banking system and the weekend this could have caused a short delay.

You could check your account again either today or tomorrow (most Banks have telephone banking over a weekend). If however it is still in transit and not here by Monday the CSA should be able to tell you if they have collected it or not.

Good Luck

Sorry, yes I do mean 04/09/09! They are collecting the payments for me, but the letter said I would recieve my first payment on this day.
I will check my bank again on Monday, all call them then if it isn't there.
Thankyou!

Do not get your hopes raised - I got letter stating when I 'Should' receive money in practice this really is a 'should' - not a you 'will' - ring tham and ask them if they have recieced payment - take it from there - try and talk to your case working as well - even ask for them - they will call you back (myn did - but think I got lucky with a good case worker) - don't expect payment - it takes them ages to pay to you even after they have recieved it! - if they received it - think and understand the process the CSA goes through - and ask them questions accordingly - worked for me :-) - although still waiting payment to me but have been told payment has been made by ex - CSA do work okay now but takes time - if you talk to your case worker will be faster as they will act on what you ask them ... :-)

If you ring the csa they can tell you if it has been collected and then when it will be in your account. You can also ask them what your normal day of the month will be for monies in your account.

There's usually about a 10 day gap between the two as they first have to receive the money from your ex's bank, then process it and then send it back out from their account to yours.

There is three working days between the monies leaving their account and being received in yours and this applies to all organisations.

I'm supposed to recieve my payments weekly, so if there is a 10 day period between payments, how will it be weekly?
I'll have to ring them up and get them to explain it all to me!
Thankyou.

Hi

If your ex is on "certain benefits!" - you will eventually get your money!

However if he has "managed" to get himself onto "other" benefits you will never see a penny of it.

Sorry to sound harsh - my ex is S/E.

We had 3 children in private school and I was awarded £0:00 in arrears and any future payments.

He managed to get himself onto "other benefits!"

Best wishes
