hello and thanks for reading.

my hubby and i are on benefits, i have gained part time work. my OH assesment is nominal £5 a week csa payments, we have £860 arrears, dont know how or when accrued, but they said we owe?

anyway, we pay everyweek standing order £5, if we are to pay say £8 would the extra £3 come of arrears or is it just accepted as extra money.

i hope it would come of arrears as it would help us and help the lttle ones mum aswell, not much i know but we are living below the governments said poverty line as it is, the little ones mum is working part time.

thanks for any advice

Hi bonytony

This is really something you would need to speak to the CSA about - Ive found them helpful whenever Ive had to call.

I would imagine that you showing willing to pay off the arrears would go in your favour, but it might be worth asking as to how these arrears have built up.

As the current guidelines are that those on certain benefits are only required a minimum payment per week, I would imagine that any payment over and above that would go towards paying off the arrears.

it will definately come off of your arrears and you will always look better in the long run if your making effort to pay
