Well done for putting the children first. I would ignore advice to reduce contact because it is likely to have more negative impact upon your relationship with the children rather than effecting the Mother.

I think you will have difficulty to claim a reduction in CM through the CSA unless the children stay overnights. Under CSA rules stipulate the deductions are for overnights. In one case the NRP was collecting the children fed, dressed in PJs and teeth brushed to put them straight to bed three nights a week and returning them at 7:30 am in the morning still in their PJs for breakfast and to get ready to school. Deductions for the three overnights were and successfully claimed. It's not fair but there is no point in inventing rules which don't exist.

The CSA have no jurisdiction over CM for step children and the first port of call is the natural father. However, courts do have the jurisdiction to award CM for step children and consider the nature and duration of the relationship. Although the starting point for courts are CSA rates judges are directed to give regard to factors in s25 Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 and may exercise discretion which the CSA doesn't have.
