It can be done on line, just fill in address you require, you pay £4 then download a copy.You also need to register.

Thanks Ive done it...... so i will now send that over to the CSA...

Can anyone advise me as to how i can prove he is renting his property. Also am i right in saying he needs to advise his mortgage lender that he is renting and will this also have to include advising the TAX OFFICE????

The CSA go by the accounts accepted by the tax office. This is why it is so hard to get a fair amount of money out of self-employed NRPs through this route.

If he is receiving rent for this property then he should be paying tax on it, so if the CSA don't know about the rent that would suggest that the tax office don't know either, though if he has only been renting during this financial year they wouldn't need to know yet - he would have to declare it on his tax form which won't have to be in for another year.

He's not self employed, but the csa said thats the address they always go by, which is not always current anyway.

I have no doubt that he WILL NOT be declaring his rent to the tax office, i cant see why he would when his dad has never paid tax in 20 years ( shhhhhhh but im not suppose to tell anyone, so just keep that between us ok :blink: ) ............ so that means he gets away with that aswell........ it stinks

IF he isn't reporting his income from the rental property report him to the inland revenue.

They'll get on to it eventually, I believe you can do it anonymously. Can you search for the property on-line? many estate agents/rental agents will post houses that they are renting on the internet, you may be able to pull up an old advert for renting the property which could at least add weight to someone persuing an investigation?

the csa has in recent years been given new powers in terms of gathering information, however this does not extend to information relating to the registry of mortgages. this means they rely on the customer to provide this information if at all possible. unfortunately this is not easy to do and obviously time consuming. this is just one of the many problems the c s a encounter and is frustrating for them too. they are not private detectives and can only do what their tools allow. the tax office would hold records if declared for a full financial year , but if not declared, they too would have difficulties in proving it. due to data protection they certainly would not reveal any info to you. you could try reporting him for investigation and try again for a variation in the next tax year.
