Does anyone understand the CSA rules on changes in circumstances? If the NRP receives a salary increase which leads to an increase in the amount payable to the PWC, when does this change become effective?

The reason I ask is that I was told by the CSA that the change is effective from the date when they calculate the new payment amount. In my situation this was three months after both the NRP and I informed them of the change (with evidence) because they said they needed copies of 3 months payslips before they could make the calculation.

The CSA state that my children should receive 20% of the NRP's salary yet for 3 months they chose to pay only 16.25% of his new salary (which equates to 20% of his old salary), despite having evidence of his new salary in front of them.

Can this really be true – if so thousands of children are missing on 3 months worth of increased money.

Hi we have had numerous problems regarding the CSA. Firstly your claim starts from the date of your application, the CSA will collate the 3 months payslip or a statement of earnings from his employer to calculate the amount of regular payments to be made. However, they normally request that either a small fee or in full the 3 months of arrears, in most cases it is attached to the normal payments but with a slight increase, unless your ex voluntary pays the arrears in full of at an agreeded amount. The CSA may well be entitled to take up to 20% but if the earning are not there they will not, they will only and can only take a % that is available and your ex is entilted to have "protected income and other allowences" to secure a livalbe amount for him to live off and to pay child support to you.

I was told by the CSA that payments are only backdated to the date when they are initially informed at the 1st application to the CSA, but that this is not applicable to subsequent changes in circumstances (ie future salary increases).

I will double check with them again but does anyone know where I might find any information about this - I have tried the CSA website without success?
