Do I have to pay for a step daughter?

I have been with my wife for 10 years and we are heading towards divorce. She has a 16 year old daughter still at school (just about). I presume I don't have to pay any maintenace for the shild as it's not mine? She has a real Dad that already pays through the CSA.

And am I right it saying I wouldn't have to pay out monthly to my wife for anything else? We would just split all our possesions and house down the middle and walk away? (Even though I paid ALL the mortgage.....)

Thanks for any help on this.

You don't have to pay maintenance for your step-daughter, however, she is likely to be considered a "child of the family" so her needs (including the need for a secure home)will be relevent in looking at the over all settlement.

Whether a 50/50 split is reasonable will depend on the factors such as your respective financial needs, income & earning capacity etc.
