Does anyone know if, in French Law an absent Father is compelled to continue to pay CM to his ex (French) wife for as long as his French children continue in Full Time education, regardless of their age? In this case, the Father has remarried, lives in England and has a new family with his English wife.

Thanks.

Like most other European countries in France there is a general obligation for parents to maintain children who have reached maturity but not yet attained financial independence whilst they continue to study.

Thanks Fiona, but where do they draw the line? Do you know what the courts would consider to reasonable?

For example - continuing support whilst a child goes to University and does one degree would be reasonable. But maybe not indefinately should they then go on to do a masters and then a PHd too!?!
