Please could you tell me how to work out child maintenance.

I have my husband's P60 and payslips but unsure how to work the tax out. He gets a basic salary but variable bonuses so every payslip is different.

Thanks in advance

It depends on how many children you have and how many nights a week the children stay with your ex.

There is debate about bonus and overtime I am not sure if they are included or not. I think if the payments are regular then they are included but if say only occur once in a while they arent. If the bonuses is include the csa would find an average and use that to calculate the amount payable.

Its simple to use the maintenance calculator on the CMA site or the one on wiki

yes I've seen the calculator which is simple, just didn't know what figures to use, the P60 or the payslips but as I said the payslips are different every month!

add net income on the payslips together and divide by how many payslips that will give you the average monthly pay to use. If you need weekly amount then multiply by 12 and divide by 52 to get estimate of weekly net income.

or use the net amount on p60 and divide by 52 again this would give you the average weekly net income

If i was you I would use whichever gives the lower amount as a baseline rather than the larger if not sure what CSA would do re bonuses then you wont budget for amount that higher than the potential that you could receive.

Sorry if I am telling you something you already know how to do its the maths teacher in me!!
