Hi,

Any advise please in regards to the child maintenance if I am moving to Norway?

Should I inform the CSA and/or my ex, or just tell them that I am going overseas and keep on paying the child maintenance each month through standing order.

I don’t want to stop the child maintenance but, if possible, I want to pay the adequate amount for the kids only, not for my ex too.

I will request my ex to let me remain in contact with the children over the phone and when I visit the UK, and would prefer to form a written agreement for the maintenance amount, but I am not sure how smooth this will go, as she might not like the reduction in the maintenance amount.

I was made aware that soon I will be out of job so I started applying and found one in Norway, which isn’t as well paid as my current job but I thought to accept as its alot better than going on benefits.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Regards,
Dreams

The CSA will have no jurisdiction unless you will work for a UK company in norway.

Norway is a REMO country (see www.csa.gov.uk/en/case/remo.asp#S5) so your ex could apply to a UK court and seek to enforce that through a Norway court, hough this is cumbersome and can take time. Or you could have a Consent Order. Or you could apply n a norway ct.

Or just pay voluntarily what you can agree on or what you think is right - this may turn out to be the most practical option.
