CSA have sent me a letter with the breakdown of ex's assessement to clear his arrears.

His net income is down as £126 per week..!Minus the £35 he is paying, how can the CSA possibly believe he runs a home on this income...he has a mortgage and drives a car?!What a shambles the CSA is.

According to the CSA my ex apparently runs a home, spends 7 nights down the pub and smokes 30 a day on 95 pound a week - so to support our 3 children he has to pay 5 pound a week and hasnt managed that since April!!

Am now past the point of being angry it gets me nowhere - so am resigned to the fact i will be supporting our 3 children and know in years to come the children will know who was there for them and who was not.

So can't really help you but know how you feel xx

As much as £126 per week and £90 per week, wow. Beat this. My ex declared an income of less that £5 per, yes that's right, less than 71 pence per day.
You know what, the CSA believed her and assessed he as paying diddley squat.

Why don't some parents want to help financially support their children? I really don't get it!

Why don't we have a Government that wants to help rather than a series of Governments that don't give a toss. I really don't get it!
Some people don't want to pay the same way they don't want to pay taxes, train fares, their tv licence etc etc etc.
Scrap the useless CSA that costs more to run than the money it collects.

I agree that its unfair when a parent does everything possible to avoid paying financial support for their own children - "wont pay" is different from "unable to pay".

However, the CSA can only go on what information they receive, and while they appear shambolic at times, its worth remembering that they are overworked and flooded with applications/calls/complaints.

before the CSa, there were a great number of NRPs who were able to get away with not paying anything towards their children (and one of the aims was to get the NRP to pay enough CM so that the PWC would then not be legible to claim Income Support (cos remember all single mothers claim benefits and dont work ;))

Rather than scrapping the CSA, I would like to see proper consultation with parent groups, and both PWCs and NRPs.

When my ex legged it to Australia, giving up his job, I received a Nil assessment from the CSA, and my case was closed. Is frustrating, but the CSa can only act on information received - the fact he is living a nice life, rent free, and has assets here in the UK; in Aus is somewhat irrelevant

The way I look at things is that I know Im doing everything I can for our daughter, I haven't reneged on my responsibilities, and I make sure that she doesn't go without too much simply because there is no financial support for her from her father. Does't make it any less infuriating tho...

Sorry but the arguement that they can only go on the information received wont wash. Do you think HMRC accept any old bull **** that a self employed person gives them.
I accept that people who deal in cash are in a lucky position and when shopping I get intensely annoyed when I am behind somebody who produces cash the size of a brick to pay for the weekly shopping.
There has to be a better way of doing this. We need to ditch the approach that the CSA is a body to provide employment and replace it with something with real teeth.
