I'm a member of another forum.

And the statistics 60% of non-resident-parents do not pay child maintenance is quoted regularly in discussions.

Is this a true figure? As it sounds very high.

Any ideas?

As of September/November 2011 the CSA caseload was 1.14m and the C-MEC Annual Report and Accounts 2010/11 show that, whilst payments were being made in 65% of CSA cases for the year April 2006 – March 2007, this had increased to 78% by March 2011.

However the Report went on to say that although 970,000 children were benefitting from child support 50% of children in separated families are not benefiting from an effective arrangement.

In the UK there are 3 million children living in a single parent household (DWP 2011).

Well I have never received any child support for my daughter who is now 17 and for the last 4 months have received nothing for my son either.

I work in a school and about 10% of children have no named father on their school records so I assume these children are not supported either.

I wonder if there's a difference in the original stats of 60% non resident parents not paying CM and CSA figures, because many rp see the CSA as a last resort?

I've read a number of posts here where the rp is anxious about the effect going to the CSA will have.I suspect some parents rather scrimp and save to get by rather than risk agravating emotionally volatile exes to retaliation?
