Hi,

I am currently in process of divorcing my husband. It's an amicable Clean Break after 2 yrs of separation & there are no children nor property involved. Due to the simplicity of the case I am using an on-line UK based service www.quickie-divorce.com.

I was under the impression that the entire process could be conducted via post however I have just found out that I need to sign the D80 form (affidavit) in the presence of an officer of the court or solicitor. This is where my problem lies. As a freelance event manager I have been seconded to work on a project in Dubai for 3 months and am now not due to return to the UK until June 2010. I am keen to keep the divorce ball rolling & do not wish to hold up the proceedings for 3 months & write to inquire whether I would be able to have a Dubai based British Solicitor witness or someone within the British Embassy here that would suffice as a witness & would be acceptable to the UK courts?

Many thanks in advance for any advice on the matter!

Hello

Yes you can take it to a solicitor in Dubai who can witness it for a small fee.

Phew! A flight home just to get this signed would cancel out any profit I make on this project!! Thank you!
