Hi all, I needed a advice, any1 that can help would appreciate. As a respondent I wanted to apply for the dicree Absolute. On 12/11/09 court dissolved my marriage from my ex six weeks from that time is 24/12/09. So with my calculation I can apply on the 24/03/10 for the dicree absolute. The problem I have i am going away on that day for up to 4 weeks abroad, can a solicitor apply for me ? or do I need to physically apply myself ? lastly how long does it take if I apply ? also I do not have any kids with my ex, she is being bit difficult due to me planning to get married with my new partner. Any help would be great !!!

The application will be heard by a Judge unlike the Petitioner's application which is dealt with on paper unless defended.

When you send your application in the court will list the matter for a hearing - depending upon how busy the court is this could take a few weeks.

It is possible to instruct a solicitor to make the application on your behalf but you will most likely need to attend court when the application is heard.
