Hi all, this is my first post so please be gentle.
I have done my divorce myself using a book that I bought from WH Smith and it all has gone to plan so far. It is uncontested and based on 2 years seperation.
My ex, who everything is amicable with, called me yesterday and told me that she believed we were not divorced as we previously thought. We recieved a D37 from the court back in 2008, and I thought that was that. I had started a Consent Order application but did not finish it off.
My understanding was that the D37 means we are definitely divorced and that the unfinished consent order would not affect that. My ex tells me she has spoken to the court and she has apparently been told we are not divorced yet. I'm confused. Can lack of finishing the consent order have some negative effect of the Decree Absolute?
Any thoughts gratefully recieved.
Thanks,
Gledders

The D37 is final and Absolute it certifies that the marriage was dissolved. You are divorced, Ancillary Relief is dealt with separately.

Thank you Tets, I was getting a little concerned there. Although I have been told by HMCS helpdesk today that it should have a nice big red stamp on it, which it doesn't. I have just written to my local court asking for confirmation. I have a nasty feeling there may have been something of an error in the issue.

It should have a court seal on the front of it which is a rubber stamp about four inches in diameter some are red some are black, if you call the court they will confirm you have the Absolute or not............
