Hello all,

Does anyone have any tips or templates on what to write in Paragraph 13 of a DIY divorce? I am the petitioner, we have been separated for 1 year, are both amicable and want the quickest and most painless option possible. Grounds are for unreasonable behaviour, but I don't know what to write to make sure that there are no complications.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

dvb,

See the following posts on UB reasons.

Basically, enough to say that the marriage is over, not too much to cause antagonism:

www.wikivorce.com/divorce/Divorce-Forum/...e-reasons-sound.html

Hope it helps,
Mike

Hi DVB

I have got past this bit, and learned the following:-

When writing your half dozen bullet points, refer to your s2bx as "the Respondent"

Try to write in the third party, as an observer reporting facts, you may get less confrontation this way.

My divorce is uncontested and we're trying to stay friends. Your s2bx will receive a copy of the petition back from the court. So I tried to "soften the blow" by letting him see my reasons beforehand. And also to check that he would sign the next bit, it seemed to me to be a waste of time if he was going to refuse to sign.

Anyway, when he saw my reasons spelled out, he was very very upset and went ballistic. With hindsight, I would have asked him to write them first, or do them together which I think would have softened the blow and helped him take ownership of the situation.

I ended up taking two reasons out, and hope that the court will accept it as it stands. If you want to know if the court does accept it, send me an email, I am hoping to hear in about 4 weeks time.

Good luck.
