JEEEZ!! HOW MUCH?? Don't pay that much, they're clearly trying to rip you off. Unless there's a lot of really complicated stuff in your agreement? Even then, it shouldn't cost that much. I paid £117.50 for mine!!

I definitely agree that you should ring up to discuss it with the Wiki Consent Order team. At the very elast ask your solicitor why they're charging so much when you can get one for a fraction of the price...

Best of luck!

The only reason i stay on Wiki is to try and save people money and help those who cannot afford solicitors.

Entire books are dedicated to consent orders, even if you were to buy them they are intended to be used by lawyers not laypersons, the latest book by resolution costs £149 which is more than wiki charge for the order from start to finish.

If i thought you could do this yourself i would say, help even, the problem is the order is the single most important part of the finances and by necessity is complicated with lots of what seem to be strange clauses and wording.

Save yourself the headache and let a lawyer worry about the order, personally i think its cheap at half the price, if you like i can post a very basic order so you can see what your up against?, shout if you want to take a peek.

Having already paid £1500 just to do the Petition, I'm not going to pay them another £1500 for the consent order though by the sound of it it would be money better spent.

I have phoned the wikivorce people and that's probably the way I'll go.

I still find it extraordinary that it wasn't in the scope of their estimate when it was clearly discussed at our initial meeitng. How on earth did their expect to get me through to Absolute without a consent order?

Wow - what a shame you didn't find this site sooner - Wiki can do Full Divorce with Consent for £279 (plus court fees) - a fraction of the cost!

Glad you're getting it sorted!

It is worth mentioning that the wiki service is, as far as I am aware, for those parties that have a firm agreement.

A lot of cases, particularly those with significant and complex assets, take a lot of communication and drafting to finalise a consent order that reflects the agreement that both parties intend to enter into. Where there are investments that mature in the future, properties that are possibly subject to Capital Gains Tax, pension funds, share transactions - particularly those related to a family business where the parties are shareholders AND various recitals and undertakings required to ensure compliance - it is easy to rack up a bundle of costs. Achieving the same task on your own would be foolish and asking the same of a fixed fee service would be met with a flat rejection. Solicitor may well charge a chunk of cash but the money also purchases advice against pitfalls and more importantly, insurance against negligence.
