Hi all,

I just thought i would post up about the experience i had at the county court yesterday.

I went along to file my divorce papers....the clerk behind the counter greeted me etc and then asked me for the papers etc...

I got married abroad, so had my marraige cert etc and translation...she then asked me where i got married...this was clearly stated on the papers infront of her...THEN she said to me:

1. Oooo that must have been lovely? THEN folowed that up with
2. Bet you had a lovely hot wedding day?

Was she for REAL???????????
I am there handing over divorce papers, it is unlikely that i want to talk about my wedding day.

I cannot believe the insensitivity and inapproapriate-ness of what happened

I left there feel very upset.... :-O

Not to mention i then asked when the 8 days for him to repsonded started, and she said what 8 days?? My god...how can she not know what i was talking about....

Geez....

Hiya,

No doubt this was upsetting, however I'd give the clerk the benefit of the doubt and say they were thoughtless and insensitive rather than malicious. I would also say that they were inexperienced as I've found many clerks can give valuable advice re. paperwork accuracy and court info.

However - the whole thing upset you and I want to send you a big hug - the whole process is very emotional and this doesn't help :S

Hi,

Yeah im sure it wasnt malicious...but it was so insensitive! I have already written a letter of complaint, suggesting training!

I think your right about experience...when i asked her from which day does the 8 days repsonse period start from ie the day you post them or the day he gets them, she looked and said to me "what 8 days"....doesnt instill much confidence.

Thanks re hug..the whole thing is crp, i thought i would feel better as its the right thing to do, but i dont....

:-(

Sometimes the right thing to do doesn't make it easy, or less upsetting, the first stage is over - the paperwork/technical bit. The emotion still continues.

more hugs
