I spoke to the court today, they confirmed they''ve had stbx''s Acknowledgement of Service back... Now I realise this is probably a difficult question to answer, but how long can I reasonably expect the next stage to take?

Many thanks in advance

The next stage is the Decree Nisi.

To get there the applicant (or solicitor) needs to complete Directions for trial and the affidavit in support of Petition, once the court have those its down to how busy the court is, for most you would expect to get a letter from court telling you both when the Nisi will be decreed in a month or so.

It all depends on the court, some have a huge back log others none, if you call the court they should be able to at least give you an idea.

Thanks for that.

As I''m the applicant, will the court send me the Directions for trial etc?

I''ve tried caling the court dozens of times, but can''t get to speak to anyone...Not a good sign.

I`m afraid your experience is not uncommon, even if you do get to speak to someone very often they will refuse to answer any questions using the mantra seek legal advice or even worse you are given the wrong information.

There is a guide to divorce on the tool bar above and an even better one written for those without solicitors in the library under DIY resources, have a read of them.

Will court send you the next two forms? some do some don`t, its actually your job to find them and complete them, both are in the library under forms, just print them off.

I hope you asked a clerk of court to check the D8/a? make sure you do with the next two, the affidavit is not that easy to complete.
