Hi, I understand that if you can''t get your finances in order within 1 yr of a Decree Nissi it can cause problems getting a Decree Absolute?? Is just a extra form to fill in? Is this something I can do myself? Many thanks, Sally.

Its true that for most its wise to hold off on the Absolute until you have a Consent Order but not for all, in fact many find themselves divorced long before the money side is agreed.

If the Decree Nisi is a year old or more before you apply for the absolute most judges will ask for some kind of explanation, this can usually be done with a simple letter that explains the delay was due to financial negotiations.
