Hi

I am trying to help my partner who is originally from The Philippines get a divorce from her Ex (separated for over 20 years) so we may get married this year if possible.
There are no children or financial considerations and no divorce process in the Philippines. She is a british citizen and has sent the first Petition via the family court which still has not arrived in the Philippines and may never do !!!.

The options as in the letter from the court are for a bailiff service which I have been quoted 1500 and 1000 pounds to do !!! we cant afford that option.

but it also states in brackets that solicitors may attempt service themselves. The family in the Philippines has a solicitor but no one is able to tell me if it will be possible to use him !

Has anyone else had experience of the options here even sending the next petition via DHL rather than snail mail is that possible ?? so could get a signature for the reciept and can that be used as a proof of serving ?

Thanks for any advice without breaking the bank to sort out .

Cheers

The easiest option is to use the wiki service, its called none standard divorce, long story short the wiki solicitor will dispence with service, in other words it does not matter if she reply`s or not, it maybe the solicitor will choose to deem service, not easy to say from what you write.

The wiki service costs £480

The court costs are £485, it could cost another £90 depending on deemed or dispenced, its really for the solicitor to decide which will be quicker and easier.

Call the wiki line its free, or post more information so others can help.
