I don''t really want to spend money getting a will written until my divorce is full. I basically just want to leave everything I have to my kids. We had joint wills before so have the wording etc. Obviously this is out of date now, the Nisi is through so I assume any will wouldn''t count? Is this something I can do myself in the meantime, and get it done ''properly'' once I am divorced?

TIA

Hi, your will still stands until when you get your Absolute. I know there are DIY wills out there, but be careful as sometimes the slightest thing can cause untold difficulties.

My friend''s mum did her own will and when she passed away there were problems as she had changed pen half way through so the ink was a slightly different colour!!!

You can change your will at any time, and it''s always a good idea to revise your will from time to time, especially when there have been major life changes.

If you want a low-cost option for having a will drawn up properly by a solicitor, you might want to consider using the Wikivorce service for a fixed-price will at £49.

It''s very important that a will is written by a solicitor, any will do as long as it is actually a solicitor, I used the wiki service it cost what they said it would and was complete in less than a week, not bad for under fifty quid.

Thanks all, will have a look at the wiki once service. I assume if I write a will now it will remain valid after the divorce, can I write into it that I jeans to keep the kids in the house but after it is sold (post uni etc) that my share of the proceeds to be split equally amongst them?
