I wonder if anyone could clear this up for me. I have been told by a work colleague that any money you may inherit or win your ex can claim a share even after you have seperated and indeed up to six months after divorce. Can this be right?

In England & Wales if there is no final court order dismissing claims there is the potential for claims to be made against each other in the future. Claims are sometimes successfully made 6 or 7 years or more later. The court then considers all the particular facts of the case including inheritances and lottery winnings although they *may* be allotted back to the inheritor or winner.

We had it written into our medication documents that it was to be a Clean Break and our mediator specifically said we couldn't claim from each other if one of us won the lottery - hope he was right!!
