Hey there everyone,

Had my first mediation after being seperated for two years.

What came up was a credit card amount from when we were married. The loan was settled and cleared by my then in-laws by an arrangement with my stbx without my knowing shortly after me and my stbx spilt up. No one had approached me for the two years about a payment agreement or a way for me to pay my half.

Now after the two years Im expected to pay back the then in-laws back. Just like that.

Can anyone help with a legal issue as the company have had their money and the bill was run up through household expences like shopping petrol, birthday pressies etc, not by myself alone.

Im prepared to pay half but want some advice really on where I stand.

Thanks

You know what I mean, family birthdays (more so his family!!!).:P

But it was his Barclaycard and I was a cardholder on the account.

They are trying to say that it was my card that spent all the money. When you look at the bill yes it is, but only on household expences.

Can i really get out of paying any of it do you think??

hello,

If the card was in your husbands name (even if you are an additional card holder) then forget about it, plead ignorant! as far as you are concerned it was his card and it was paid off in full.

However if it was your card in your name you will have to search your concience! if it was me, keeping in mind the way my in laws have treated me since my x was caught out on yet another affair I would still disregard it.

It was 2 years ago....it's historic! surely you can counter balance the auguement with something else.

xx

Thanks for that. It minimal amount and his trying to get me to take that from the pension I would be entitled to.

Same with the car I am driving. Its in my name and the then inlaws paid for it all. Now they want the money back!! Wierd how this all seems to come up now we are disputing things.

Thanks xxx
