I have some money left to me by my father. can I spend that money , my father wanted me to buy a lovely watch and to get my children something to remember him by, prior to my divorce?

I doubt if a Court would object to modest expenditure.

It only becomes suspect when the expenditure is done with the specific intention of defeating the wife's potential claims.
