Hi. My wife and I have fallen apart after 20years of marriage. We have 3 boys. We have no assets. The house we live in is rented. Both names are on the agreement. What are my financial obligations if i choose to move out and rent a room elsewhere. I am the main bread winner. My wife has a small job of a few hours a week.
I do not want to move out and leave my children and my wife is not throwing me out. She is willing for me to stay, but not with a view to reconciliation, just for the sake of the children. But living with her but not being with her is screwing me up.
If i move out and not divorce would i have to pay for both.
Your views would be appreciated.

Hello,

Yes she wants al the benefits (including financial) of your marriage but does not want your marriage. Seems to be common unfortunately.

I'll leave the rest to someone else as I am bounf to get it wrong but I wanted to post because I was in your situation and yes for the person who is being effectively dumped it's very hard. We ended up rowing and she left.
